Manage suppliers – manage all technical and supplier aspects for protein raw materials which will include due diligence, product quality and specifications
Manage supplier audits and approval
Meet performance targets – achieve expected KPI performance levels to drive improvement year on year
Be the primary contact of the protein supplier base
Develop strong supplier relations and lines of communication
Serve as the category expert for Mindful Chef teams with a focus on artwork approval, product claims and kitchen validation trials
Promote and maintain excellent cross-department communication and collaborations
Advise the business on industry-based standards such as BRC, Red Tractor, MSC, ASC etc.
Investigate and close out customer complaints
Investigate and enforce corrective actions
Deputise for technologist team
Deliver cross-functional support
Promote a positive food safety culture outlook in the business
Be available to work at both Redditch and London Mindful Chef offices
Demonstrate extensive knowledge of protein products including beef, lamb, pork, poultry, game (venison, pheasant, partridge), fish, crustaceans
+4 years’ experience as a Protein Food Technologist, Butchery role or similar with transferrable skills considered
Driven and highly motivated with a comprehensive understanding of technical concepts, trending and hands-on experience in relevant technology
Excellent time management, people skills and can manage multiple projects
Can maintain excellent communication and representation to all suppliers
Able and available to conduct national travel. Occasionally, international travel to suppliers may be required with notice
Possess a full, clean UK driving license
Aligned the business culture and identity to a high standard
Proactive and ready to go the ‘extra mile’ in line with workload capacity and willingness to assist the technical team and wider business
Qualifications:
BSc degree in Food Technology or an equivalent industry qualification
Certified as an Internal Auditor (essential)
Certified as a Lead Auditor (preferred, but not essential)
Certified as HACCP trained to Level 3 Intermediate (as a minimum)
Experience in BRCGS and industry standard audit compliance requirements essential
Additional qualifications or skills such as Lean Six Sigma, IOSH, Pest Management desirable
